Betty's Story
Betty arrived at Favoured Women as a vulnerable 16-year-old, without the financial means to afford her childbirth expenses. Her challenging life circumstances had aged her beyond her years. With our support, we covered her hospital bills, and she welcomed a beautiful, healthy baby boy into the world.
We wanted to show Betty that she was valued and cared for, beyond just addressing her immediate needs. To lift her spirits and remind her of her worth, Favoured Women and Babies covered the expense for a professional hairdresser to visit her at the hospital. The hairdresser styled her hair, giving her a fresh and beautiful look. This small but meaningful gesture was intended to bring her joy and a sense of dignity, allowing her to feel good about herself despite the difficult circumstances she had faced. Seeing her smile and confidence return, even for a moment, was a heartwarming reminder of the power of compassion and kindness.
When Betty left, she was a transformed young woman. All her hospital bills had been paid, her beautiful baby boy was delivered safely, and her hair was freshly done, thanks to the care and support she received from Favoured Women and Babies. She looked like a completely different person compared to the weary and burdened girl who had first walked through our doors. Her face was radiant, and her smile said it all—she was filled with hope, gratitude, and a renewed sense of self-worth. It was smiles all around as we celebrated her new beginning.
In this video, Betty and the hospital staff express their heartfelt thanks to Favoured Women and Babies Foundation for the support provided during a challenging time. Thanks to our assistance, Betty was able to receive the care she needed, including help with hospital bills and prenatal scans, ensuring she could focus on the health and well-being of her baby without added financial stress.
And this is why we do what we do—because every woman deserves to feel valued, supported, and cared for, no matter her circumstances. At Favoured Women and Babies Foundation, we are committed to removing barriers and providing comprehensive support. That’s why we ensure that all hospital bills are paid, so no woman has to carry the financial burden during such a critical time. Seeing Betty leave with her baby in her arms, her confidence restored, her hair done, and a radiant smile on her face reminded us of the profound impact that compassion and care can have. Moments like these reaffirm our dedication to empowering women and changing lives.
Transforming Lives: The Power of Compassion and Support
Betty was on the streets and in labor when she was taken to a church to deliver her baby, as she lacked the funds to pay childbirth fees. Tragically, things took a dangerous turn when Betty became unconscious during labor.
Favoured Women and Babies Foundation (FWO) was contacted, and we immediately stepped in to have Betty rushed to the hospital. There, she underwent an emergency C-section, saving both her life and her baby’s.
In Nigerian hospitals, patients are not provided with meals, so we ensured Betty and her baby had food throughout their stay and continued to support them even after their discharge. Our commitment was not just to her recovery but also to ensuring that she and her baby had the nourishment and care they needed during such a critical time.
We provided Betty with the funds to pay her hospital bills, allowing her to focus on her health and the well-being of her baby without the weight of financial worry. This support was designed to help her feel more independent, giving her the confidence and peace of mind to navigate this challenging time on her own terms, while knowing she was truly cared for.

Mercy's Story
Mercy, an 18-year-old young woman, was the primary caregiver for her family when she became pregnant. Overwhelmed and unsure of what to do as a young mother, she found herself in desperate need of support.
Favoured Women and Babies Outreach met Mercy during a visit to a general hospital in Lagos State, Nigeria. After giving birth, Mercy's baby boy was severely ill and required urgent medical attention, including a blood transfusion and various medications. With no money to cover these essential needs or her hospital bills, Mercy was facing an unimaginable crisis.
Favoured Women and Babies Outreach stepped in immediately, providing everything the baby needed to recover. This included paying for IV fluids, blood, and life-saving medications. The baby was also severely malnourished, as Mercy had struggled to find enough food to eat during her pregnancy. We ensured both Mercy and her baby received the necessary care, nourishment, and support to help them on the road to recovery.
Our intervention not only saved the baby’s life but also gave Mercy hope and the strength to move forward as a young mother.
Housing Support Testimony
One of our Favoured Women faced an unexpected hardship when we discovered that her house was leaking and had become uninhabitable. With her newborn in tow, we couldn’t allow her and her family to live in such conditions. Understanding the urgency, we stepped in to support them by providing essential provisions, paying for tuition fees for her son, securing new accommodation, and covering several months' rent. This assistance ensured that she and her family could begin rebuilding their lives in a safe and stable environment.
Upon further visits, we were informed that her son was unwell. We immediately ensured that he received the necessary medical attention, with all expenses covered by Favoured Women. During this time, we also gathered with her and her family to offer our support through prayer, standing by them as they navigated these challenges. Our commitment went beyond just practical help—we wanted them to feel spiritually supported and encouraged through this difficult time.
